
In the early thirties, Armando Peyon Garcia and two of his brothers, started a new industry in South America : the production of automobile batteries. The original name was Electro Talleres Nacionales Asociados, later to be called ETNA or Fabrica Nacional de Acumuladores ETNA S.A. The initial target was to supply batteries for the vehicles coming by that time basically from USA and Europe (replace market). By the mid 40 ´s the company operated in Jesus Maria, where it keeps at the moment a distribution centre to attend their main customers in Lima .
The business and the whole industry grew with the arrival of assembly car plants in the country, and Etna became the main OEM in Peru. In the seventies Etna started the construction of a new plant in the north city of Lima , where at the moment operates their main headquarters.
The Etna Group has three business units: Plastics (Molding Peru ), Melting and Processing Lead Unit and its main business the Production and Distribution of secondary batteries. Etna products are present in most countries in South and Central America, including Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela.
